Corkor Named One of the Top 100 Sustainable Companies 2026

We’re proud to share an important milestone for Corkor: we have been officially named one of the Top 100 Sustainable Companies 2026 by The Sustainability Awards.

Corkor has been recognised in the Accessories sector, with Responsible Materials and Local Manufacturing highlighted as the company’s key sustainability focus areas.

This recognition is particularly meaningful to us because it reflects two principles that have shaped Corkor for years: choosing materials more responsibly and keeping product development and manufacturing close to home in Portugal.

Why this recognition matters

Corkor was created around a simple idea: to offer beautifully designed, functional accessories without relying on animal leather.

Our collections use cork fabric as the principal outer material. Cork itself is a renewable, plant-based resource harvested from the bark of the cork oak without cutting down the tree. The bark naturally regenerates, allowing cork to be harvested repeatedly throughout the tree’s lifetime.

At the same time, we believe sustainability requires transparency.

Cork fabric is a composite material. Its natural cork surface is supported by a textile backing, and we believe customers should understand both the advantages and the limitations of the materials they choose.

For us, responsible fashion is not about presenting a material as perfect. It is about making better choices, communicating them honestly and continuing to improve.

Recognised for responsible materials

In its official Top 100 profile, The Sustainability Awards highlights Corkor’s commitment to vegan cork accessories and responsible material choices.

Corkor’s core range is entirely vegan and designed without animal leather. By using cork as the main visible material in our products, we aim to offer an alternative that combines functionality, durability and contemporary design.

Transparency is central to this approach. We do not describe cork fabric as entirely natural or plastic-free. Instead, we focus on understanding its composition, maintaining technical documentation and making increasingly informed sourcing decisions.

Responsible materials, for us, mean looking beyond appearance and considering where materials come from, how they perform and how honestly they are communicated.

Local manufacturing in Portugal

The second area highlighted by The Sustainability Awards is Local Manufacturing.

A significant part of Corkor’s product development, manufacturing, personalisation, quality control and fulfilment takes place at our own facilities in Portugal.

Keeping these activities close to home gives us greater oversight of the way our products are made.

It allows us to:

  • monitor quality more closely;
  • identify defects and production issues more quickly;
  • improve material use;
  • reduce avoidable waste;
  • maintain closer relationships with suppliers;
  • support local employment.

Local production is not simply part of our identity. It is one of the foundations of the way Corkor operates.

Designed for durability, not fast fashion

We believe sustainability is also about how long a product remains useful.

Corkor focuses on practical, timeless accessories designed to be used regularly and kept beyond a single season.

From wallets and bags to belts, accessories and personalised pieces, functionality, durability and quality remain central to our product development.

Personalisation also plays a role in this philosophy. A product created or customised for a specific person can carry greater emotional value, encouraging it to be kept, used and appreciated for longer.

We believe that one of the most responsible products is one that continues to serve its purpose long after the moment it was purchased.

A recognition shared by the whole team

Being named one of the Top 100 Sustainable Companies 2026 reflects the work behind every stage of Corkor: sourcing, design, production, quality control, personalisation, organisation, fulfilment and continuous improvement.

This recognition belongs to the entire Corkor team.

Every improvement in production, every quality check, every supplier decision and every effort to reduce waste contributes to the way the brand evolves.

Sustainability is not handled by a separate department at Corkor. It is built into everyday decisions.

What comes next

We see this recognition not as an endpoint, but as encouragement to keep improving.

Corkor is continuing to strengthen the way it measures material use, production waste, quality, packaging and supply-chain transparency, with the goal of making its sustainability performance increasingly measurable, transparent and accountable.

Being included in the Top 100 Sustainable Companies 2026 reinforces something we strongly believe:

Progress does not require perfection — it requires consistency, transparency and a genuine commitment to doing better.

We are proud to see Corkor recognised for Responsible Materials and Local Manufacturing, and grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey.

Thank you for growing with us.
